Jul 2016 AirVenture Live ATC and What’s Happening When!
Listening to live ATC is one of the greatest ways to enjoy AirVenture, whether you’re parked in a lawn chair along 9/27 or sitting at home in your Lazyboy. Take advantage of the Fisk VFR Approach link and sense the excitement every pilot approaching Fisk must be feeling. Or take your pick and listen to the South Tower or the North Tower where there’ll be a non-stop line of pilots doing their best to land on one of those big colored dots! I can tell you from experience, when your wheels are finally rolling on the pavement at OSH, there’s nothing better than hearing the words, “Welcome to Oshkosh”.
Let’s meet at OSH!
Come on ladies and the gents you’re bringing, let’s meet at AirVenture. We have several opportunities to gather so pick one – pick all – and let’s do it.
Join LadiesLoveTaildraggers for lunch at AirVenture 2016. We’ll be meeting for lunch two times so take your pick. If you’d like to purchase LadiesLoveTaildraggers tshirts they will be available.
#1) Tuesday, July 26, 11:30 pm, LadiesLoveTaildraggers Lunch at the Hilton Garden Inn Rooftop Terrace Cafe. (a.k.a. members, wanna be members, guests, or anybody who shows up). We have reservations for a big group so come if you can. Ride the North 40 bus and ask them to stop at the Hilton. If you haven’t been to this rooftop restaurant, it’s the best spot in all of AirVenture to see the airport. Allow extra time – it’s a long way over there.
#2) Thursday, July 28, 11:00 a.m. Come and support your sister taildragger pilots at the “Vintage in Review” program featuring Ray Johnson and two lady taildragger pilots. Wear your LLT tshirts!! Don’t have one? They will be available for sale! We are featuring
- Jan Johnson from California & her very special 1952 C195A affectionately named “Elsieâ€. Elsie has her own Facebook page and more Facebook “friends†than most people do. Jan is one dynamic lady – don’t miss this opportunity to meet them both!
-
Sierra Lund from Georgia & her C140. On June 29, Sierra, a 17 year old student pilot departing on a solo cross-country from Peachtree, GA, lost her engine at 400′ and made an emergency landing in an Atlanta area golf course. Meet Sierra and her C140 and hear her amazing story. (Yes, Sierra has a C140 – another great story!)
#3) Friday, July 29, 11:30 pm. Same as Tuesday. LadiesLoveTaildraggers Lunch at the Hilton Garden Inn Rooftop Terrace Cafe. We have reservations for a big group so come if you can. Ride the North 40 bus and ask them to stop at the Hilton. If you haven’t been to this rooftop restaurant, it’s the best spot in all of AirVenture to see the airport. Allow extra time – it’s a long way over there.
