An Amazing Day at the Lady Taildraggers Flyin!

Things got off to a slow start with cool temperatures and overcast skies. 30 miles west of Savannah it was severe clear but we stayed under a cloud cover till mid afternoon. No problem though, it was plenty high to fly under and little by little the girls flew in. Wow, what a great day as the sun finally broke through and we started to warm up.

Early a.m.; we pulled a few of the girls together for a quick pic!

Big time fun when Kelly Jeffries led us in Zumba! Too funny – she managed to get the girls AND some of the guys up for a pre-dinner work out.

Kelly lead us in Zumba today!

Big dinner crowd tonight!

Would you believe Tennessee BBQ, and I’m talking pulled pork, BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken along with all the good stuff. Thank you, Montille Warren, for the BEST flyin food anywhere! I’m losing count of how many cakes the ladies have made for us all.

Geez, hope the airplanes will get off the ground  tomorrow!

Lots of flyins today including Cathy from AZ in her RV6 and Dana from Kansas City in her Super Cub.

Wish I could show you more but it’s midnight and the hotel wifi is way too slow tonight. The important thing to know is we’re having a great time and the ladies are making their way to Tennessee. Tomorrow’s the finale (Saturday) and our big day – Poker Run pilot briefing starts at 10:30.  If you’re planning on participating, come for breakfast and be ready to depart for the first leg at 11:00 a.m. Looks like we’re finally going to have a really great, fair weather day!

Wow what a great time. Any one that didn’t make it this year really should start planning for next year. What a great fly in and some very beautiful scenery to fly over.

Home at last, but I sure didn’t want to leave! What a great time and what an awesome turn-out. There’s not enough time/space to thank Judy and Montille (and the Super Cub rides from Bill and Wendy). This fly-in was one for the books!

My wife and I came in for the afternoon/evening on Saturday. Great fun. Great food. Great people. It’s the best fly-in I’ve been to aside from Oshkosh. The herculean effort involved by the organizers and volunteers was readily apparent and I hold them in the highest regard. I hope there’s a 2013 iteration.

Looks like the day just got better and better. I hope the JNCA-5 topographical VFR planning chart keeps on filling up with all the routes flown to get to Savannah. Tennessee hospitality. C’mon back and see us 🙂
