Anne Wright (Michigan)

Anne flies a PA18 Super Cub out of Ann Arbor Municipal Airport (KARB), Michigan.

Anne Wright meeting friends at a grass strip in Michigan for lunch

I earned my PPL in Sept. 1995 and got my seaplane rating in Feb. 2009. About 800 hours, almost half in my Super Cub which my husband bought for me as a surprise in June 2002!  I mostly fly locally, Michigan, Ohio & Wisconsin but sometimes venture a bit farther.  How far do you really have to go for ice cream??!

This next picture was taken at Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base, Feb. 2009, when I got my seaplane rating in a Cub on straight floats.

I’m in CAP, EAA Chapter 1190 (Adrian, MI), AOPA, Michigan FAASTeam & Women in Aviation (Yankee Ladies Chapter at Willow Run).  Occasional BBQs at my hangar, too.

Above and below at Empire, MI, with a bunch of Stearmans on their annual Fly Lake Michigan tour.

    Hi Anne,
Wow, what a pleasant coincidence! I was poking around the site to see what’s new and your name was forefront. Not only do you have a fantastic looking super cub, but more immediately, your name caught my attention as it is nearly the same of a fine lady I have had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Annie Wright is the widow of James Wright the Pulitzer Prize winning poet. Ironically, I believe much of his inspiration came from his time in Michigan. Perhaps there are some poems he wrote that could apply to flying.

Oh goodie Anne! I’m pleading with Judy to fly over as well — hopefully she and Boyd will be their with their pretty Champ! If you make it down – -tell the line boys working the ramp that you’re coming to Andy and Susan’s Hangar (big brick hangar on the west end of the field with a domed top) we’ll save you a spot!

    Cheers!

Hi Susan, Moraine is not too far from Ann Arbor, so May 2nd is on my calendar. I hope the LLT fly-in works out for me – it sounds like a great event! Anne.
