Oct 2010 Anne Wright’s Birthday Hangar Party
Our lady taildragger Anne Wright sent the word out last week she was throwing a birthday “hangar party” for herself at her hangar at Ann Arbor Municipal Airport, Michigan. Turns out she lucked out and got to celebrate on a perfect blue sky day which was great for all of us flying in. I flew the Champ up from Indianapolis in 2.5 hours with Boyd feeding me airport identifiers and airport frequencies from the back seat. We had a great day celebrating with Anne and her friends.
It may have been Anne’s party but she fired up the grill and got everything rolling.
There was a Stearman, a J3 Cub, 2 Piper PA-10 Pacers, my Champ and lots of friends based there stopping by.
Doesn’t get much better than celebrating with your friends and favorite Super Cub snuggled right in there too! Thanks for inviting us to share your fun day, Anne!

Spotted Dog Winery – John, Jill, and Lindsay are local here in Saline MI, with a large variety of wines. My dog Piper adopted them during our daily walks and we’ve become good friends. I think they ship – I can find out if you’re interested. The special labels were a surprise treat!

Which Vineyard Anne? They may do a booming business if you tell us! LOL 😀

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone. Beautiful weather and wonderful friends – it doesn’t get any better!
The labels are custom-made by the people who own the winery – I don’t know how they got those pictures of me & Piper, but I love it! We also celebrated Piper’s birthday (day after mine, just a few years later), and he got presents too.

Judy, it was terrific to see you & Boyd again. The Happy Little Champ looked right at home parked near the grass, too. I was glad you finally got to meet Linda Betzoldt (and her husband Dan and their Pacer) and Kim Clark (I’ve been working on Kim to join up here). Another year older, maybe not wiser, but still having fun! Thanks again for coming!
Susan, sorry you didn’t make it but I hope you had a good time anyway this weekend.
