Jacquie Warda/Extra 300
Aviation lost a very good friend January 26, 2022. Airshow performer and mentor, and supportive aviation-loving friend, Jacquie Warda sadly lost her battle with cancer. Jacquie loved life and had spent thousands of hours in her two favorite taildraggers, a Pitts S1S/T and Extra 300.
In memory of Jacquie, Ladies Love Taildraggers has advertised, and is today awarding the “Jacquie Warda Ladies Tailwheel Endorsement Scholarship”.
Congratulations to Kimberly Fanelli from Clarkston, Michigan, for winning this Tailwheel Endorsement scholarship! Kimberly is involved in IAC (International Aerobatic Club) Chapter 88, during the past two years has served on two aviation boards, is the Michigan Chapter Ninety-Nines, Vice Chair and is Vice President of the Women in Aviation International, Yankee Ladies Chapter. She is also an avid animal rescue pilot for a local rescue as well as Pilots N Paws.
Scholarship winner Kimberly Fanelli
Kimberly noted in her application, “On my anniversary of becoming a licensed pilot, I leave a check and a note with inspirational words at the local flight school for the first woman to book a discovery flight during the month of March.”
Thank you to everyone who applied. We would have preferred to award a scholarship to each and every one. Unfortunately, that’s not possible. Jacquie’s legacy and accomplishments will live on in our hearts and minds. I’m guessing nothing would make Jacquie happier than knowing she was so appreciated – as an individual, and as a top rated pilot. I’m happy to know so many female pilots continue to feel a connection to her and applied for this scholarship.
Stay tuned on Ladies Love Taildraggers Facebook – Kimberly will be sharing her tailwheel flight training experiences with us all!
