Jun 2014 Are you coming to AirVenture 2014?!!
Hey ladies, do you have AirVenture, Oshkosh, Wisconsin on your radar this year? I wouldn’t survive the rest of the year if I didn’t get to fly my bird into the busiest airport in the world. When it comes to flying, there is no higher HIGH than the descent into RIPON and flying up the railroad track towards FISK. Hearing the FISK ground controller announce “Rock your wings yellow Cub!” always pumps me up and makes me LOL – cause I’m NOT a yellow Cub. But ya got to give ’em some slack since they can’t possibly identify every factory and home-built aircraft that flies the busy skies of AirVenture.
For me, the excitement peaks when I get my runway assignment and start lining up with the runway; 36 or 27 or 09 or 18, doesn’t matter, it’s all good. And exciting. And fun. Do not miss out ladies. If you haven’t flown yourself into OSH, put on your big girl pants and go for it this year!
LadiesLoveTaildraggers will have several get togethers the week of Oshkosh, July 28 to August 3, 2014. We’ll have noon lunches on Tuesday and Friday at our usual spot, the upper terrace restaurant at the Hilton Garden Inn. Just make your way to the bus stop at the North 40 and hop on a yellow school bus and they will drop you off right in front of the Hilton. FYI, wherever you are on the field, start early because it’s a huge airport and it’s going to take a while to get over there.
I’ll also be doing a presentation Thursday, July 31, 4:00 – 5:00 at Forum 4. The schedule reads, “Ladies Love Taildraggers – A fun presentation about the organization LadiesLoveTaildraggers and their world-wide membership. Hear stories about women who are passionate about flying taildraggers and the aircraft they love to fly. See a PowerPoint presentation and short videos about the members and their annual Lady Taildraggers’ Fly-In. Open to everyone, nosedraggers and taildraggers alike. Come and be inspired to fly a taildragger!” OMG, better come up with something good!!
We’ve also been invited to participate in Ray Johnson’s “Vintage In Review” program at 11:00 Wednesday – Ladies Day in Vintage. More on that soon. We’ll be looking for 2 or 3 lady taildragger pilots who fly their aircraft into AirVenture and would like to display it on the Vintage ramp for 24 hours and be interviewed about their flying and their aircraft.
We still have time to come up with more. Please leave comments if you have suggestions or know of any events we might partner with.
