Sep 2017 Beth Egge (Michigan)
Beth Egge is based at Z98, Ottawa Executive Airport, Zeeland, Michigan and flies a ’46 Ercoupe. As of this moment, Beth is our newest member and I’m delighted to welcome her to LadiesLoveTaildraggers. For those that don’t know their birds, an Ercoupe is not a taildragger and Beth has no plans to fly one! Confused? I think Beth’s message will clear things up……
I am in the process of getting my Sport Pilot’s license and just purchased a 1946 Ercoupe 415C. Unfortunately, I cannot pass the 3rd class medical so Sport Pilot is all I can do. I realize my rudderless Ercoupe is about as opposite from a taildragger as you can get in a plane but I am interested in being involved with and meeting other lady pilots. I love taildraggers, I just can’t fly them. Is you organization open to me and my Ercoupe? Beth Egge
One of my earliest memories is sitting on my mother’s lap in the right seat of my father’s Mooney pretending to fly. Life happens and flying was not directly a part of my life until my husband got his PPL about 5 years ago. I was reminded how much I love flying. When he bought his Bonanza V35 I wanted to learn all I could so I could be valuable in the right seat. I completed ground school and that really made me want to fly. Due to a medical condition, my only option is a sport pilot’s license but to do that I needed a Light Sport Aircraft. I am 52, and now the owner of a 1946 Ercoupe 415C and working on my Sport Pilot’s License. I am eager to get involved with other women pilots, other vintage aircraft owners and anyone who likes to fly.
I take great pride in finding ways to not let difficulties stop me. I have a service dog named Fly’n Fly;n and I cannot wait to get to the point in my training he can fly with me.
