Interested in an exciting job opportunity at a remote airstrip in the Idaho backcountry? Better check this out. If you’re tough enough, and lucky enough to land one of two positions, you can thank our own Mary Build (PA-12 Super Cruiser owner) who passed this message along.

The Idaho Aviation Foundation (IAF) continues progress to completing the lodge. In fact, with completion on the horizon, we posted a2017.12.15 Lodge from webcam cropped 2 job description for lodge Caretakers for the 2018 season.  The paid positions call for a couple or team of two who will share accommodations in the lodge and who will help finish details of the rebuild project and handle operations after the grand opening this summer.  Recruiting for the position and selecting final candidates is expected to be completed in March.

The Caretaker role can be demanding and even exhausting.  But it is also a role that energizes the Caretakers because they often get to help guests enjoy a trip of a lifetime.  For those who are self-starters, multi-skilled (cooking, cleaning, fixing things and chopping wood to name a few), and enjoy helping people—this role may be for you.

We hope you will forward this to people you know who are qualified and may have an interest in the role. For more information and how to request an application, visit our website news feed or check our posting at www.coolworks.com. Deadline for applications is January 12, 2018.

Thank you for your continued interest and support.  We wish you a very happy 2018!

“Working at Big Creek Lodge will be memorable because 2018 will be the first season of operation since a devastating 2008 internal fire burned the 1930s lodge to the ground.  It’s a unique operation because it is served primarily by a backcountry airstrip (that’s how supplies are delivered too), is off the grid, and is operated by an aviation nonprofit, Idaho Aviation Foundation, which also painstakingly rebuilt it over a 5 year period.” More info at Big Creek Lodge – Idaho Aviation Foundation
