Brittanee Lincoln (California)

Brittanee Lincoln is based at KCCR, Buchanan Field Airport, Concord, California.

I can’t remember my first time in an airplane, but it made an impression. I was only two weeks old when my dad, Roger, first put me on his lap and went flying off our airfield on our farm northwest of Havre, Montana where I was raised.

My dad taught me to fly his SuperCub but I went for years without a certificate and only flying when I was home to visit. I finally just obtained my PPL in November and I can’t stay away from the airport! I want to fly at every opportunity and am always looking for ways to improve my aviation knowledge and pilot skills. I earned my tailwheel and high performance endorsements within 2 days of each other. I am currently working on my instrument rating and will continue on to my commercial.

I have always loved flying but since earning my certificate am realizing how truly passionate I am for aviation. I have spent the past 15 years working in finance and am contemplating making a career change to an aviation related field. It’s never too late to realize your dreams!

My next big interest is wanting to learn some aerobatics! I’m hoping I can find a good instructor (preferably a lady) who will be not only an instructor but also a mentor and roll model.

Dream Taildragger: Such a difficult question – how am I supposed to choose just one?!?! SuperCub and Super Decathlon

Thoughts on taildragging: First – I learned to fly in a taildragger and was taught by my dad (who I’ve only ever known to fly taildraggers). At 35, I am still “daddy’s girl” and I have so many wonderful memories of he and I together in a taildragger.

On a less sentimental note, there is a reason for the saying “real pilots fly taildraggers”! The skill required and the control one has over the airplane is something only a taildragger pilot will understand. And how much fun it is (and it looks cool) to lift the tail off the ground!! I can’t help the “wooo whoo” that slips past my lips every time I nail a wheel landing!

I also have a passion for backcountry flying and off-the-beaten-path destinations. A taildragger is an absolute no-brainer for this type of flying.

Lastly, taildraggers are just plain sexy!
