Carolyn Pasqualino (Illinois)

Carolyn Pasqualino is based at Poplar Grove Airport (C77), Poplar Grove, Illinois.

I started flying in 1974 and ended up marrying Mark, my flight instructor.  We have owned our 1946 Cessna 120 since 1990 and it shares the hangar in our back yard with a Beech Debonair and Beech T34-B.  We have lived at Bel Air Estates on the Poplar Grove Airport, since 1997 and love living on a residential airport.

The midwest is a haven for Sunday morning pancake breakfasts, and we enjoy flying to them almost every week in the summer.  Since we’re just 100 miles from Oshkosh, we fly there every year for AirVenture too.

I’ve been a pilot for United Airlines for almost 26 years and am currently a captain on the Boeing 747-400.  After all the changes in the airline industry the last decade, flying my own airplane is a lot more fun than airline flying!

Oh forgot to say– flew a turbo beaver floatplane last sept for a few hours near Stuart Island, BC— what a dream! Lots of power, smooth water and awesome mountain views!

      Hi Peter,

Wow, you have a great memory! Thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the flight to China. I’m off for Hong Kong tomorrow after spending 10 days at Oshkosh. Traded out of a London trip so I can attend the LLT Fly-in at Dayton next month.
I’m jealous of your Turbo Beaver flight. I’ve flown in the radial one but would love to fly it myself.

      Cheers,
      Carolyn

    Carolyn,
I met you when you were flying to Beijing or Shanghai (cannot recall) a few years ago and recently sat next to a check pilot check pilot from Denver who knew you well apparently. I just wanted to thank you for allowing me to visit with you and your almost 100% female crew in the cockpit before we left China.

You really inspire former pilots to get back into the cockpit. If I were home shopping, I’d probably make the jump to an air-harbor like house and get an old Champ or SuperCub or some other taildragger!
