Sep 2012 Carri Eve Hoagland hopping rides in Wisconsin!
Here’s something that proves the power of ONE. Carri Hoagland sent in this wonderful post that should motivate us all to share our love of flying.
“We had our little community Fall Festival and Fish Boil recently (Wisconsin’s largest). On a spur of the moment my son-in-law and I made a couple of crude signs Saturday morning and put them up in our little town of 450 souls. I parked the plane in a hay field complete with hay bales about a half mile from town. Well pretty soon my daughters were keeping track of folks with a waiting list of fifteen to twenty at a time.”

“We had an ice cream pail with a slot for donations to their sister’s (my daughters) scholarship fund. Erica was killed racing at Reno in 2008 and is still sadly missed by lots of people. Well one day stretched into two and when we got done I had flown fifty to sixty people, many for their first plane ride, kids as young as 4 in their mothers laps and ten Young Eagles.”
The little girl in the red T-shirt is my 18 month old granddaughter
“Needless to say I was tired with that much concentration and a “not too smooth” field. The whole thing just harkened back to the old days of barnstorming and was so wonderful that we will be doing it next year, with a few more planes I hope. They will all have to be taildraggers naturally as those other planes won’t work in the rough hay field LOL.”
My daughter and granddaughter, Lauren.  Both granddaughters love to fly! All I hear is “GeeGee fly?” (my name to them) from both of my granddaughters.”
Thanks,
Carri Hoagland

Posted at 09:19h, 28 SeptemberWhat do you do for hearing protection for the little kids? I have a rather loud home-built that I can’t tolerate without a headset.

As a pilot for Netjets and a frequent flyer at Spruce Creek, Erica and I crossed paths frequently and we became friends. She was a bright shinning star in the pilot community and I miss her.
Sending you a BIG HUG.
She would have loved giving rides. If I can help next year, I would be honored. Just let me know when.
