Cherry Charters is based at EGTO, Rochester Airfield, Kent.
I am a self funded, 22 year old girl from Kent in England. I am currently studying for my ATPLs which I was incredibly lucky to receive a scholarship for, and have my first set of exams coming up in 2 weeks.
My dream is to be a commercial pilot, either for an airline or as a bush pilot, as I adore travelling. It is what I do when I am not flying! Last week I returned from a solo overland journey from London to Hong Kong entirely by train via Eastern Europe; the Trans Siberian express route through Russia and Mongolia, then into China. It took me 2 months but was very exciting! Maybe one day I will follow a similar route but by flying! 🙂

Dream Taildragger: A pink Tiger moth!
Taildraggers tend to be older vintage aircraft, it’s a real privilege for me to be able to fly them! I especially love the little Turbulent, the hardy Supercub and the beautiful Tiger Moth. I am a member of the Tiger Club and back when I first achieved my pilots license they opened their doors to me and taught me how to fly tailwheel in the Cub, it opened my eyes to a more romantic kind of flying and I have built more skill especially as I now primarily fly from airstrips with unconventional landing and circuit patterns.
I especially love feeling more “exposed” in open cockpit type aircraft such as the Turbulent and the Tiger Moth, being able to smell the avgas and the wind rushing past my face, tangling and messing my hair up! It is just so much more exciting!
