May 2016 Day ONE to the LadiesLoveTaildraggers Texas Fly-in!
We’re on our way to the LadiesLoveTaildraggers TX Fly-in! Kate and I were planning to leave on Tuesday but decided the weather was too great to sit around thinking about flying. We decided to get going! Got a late start departing Indianapolis KMQJ but had a fantastic afternoon flight (except for all those bumps!). We had a fuel stop in Harrisburg, Illinois where the place was locked up tight, hot and deserted. We refueled and got the heck outta there, in desperate need of a breeze.
Hungry by 3:00 pm we opted for a stop at Sikeston, MO and a visit to the famous Lambert’s Cafe. OMG, look at all our food! Crazy.
Beautiful views of both the Ohio and Mississippi rivers near Cairo, Illinois, where the two rivers intersect.
It pays to Facebook while you’re flying! Sherra Davenport saw our posts on Facebook and invited us to stay over at their place at Newport, Arkansas, M19. Bet she and husband Kenny were surprised when we took her up on her offer. They will be joining us at KSLR in their Maule in just a couple days.
Off now for the next leg of our journey. Still hoping like cray for an improving forecase for Texas. 🙂
