Debra L Liptrap (Idaho)

Debra L Liptrap is based at KCOE, Coeur d’Alene Airport – Pappy Boyington Field, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

I am a very excited student pilot with a few more years in age behind me than the average student I imagine. I love grass strips and stopping to meet people living alongside and have met some very interesting people in unexpected places recently. I have been learning in a tailwheel and did my solo this past Friday so now am registering to join.

I am learning in a Cessna 175 tailwheel conversion. I flew a Super Cub last summer in Cascade, ID with Lisa Martin while at the WWAA seminar and I went out a couple of times in an Aeronca Champ. My husband has a 1940 Howard DGA which I have flown many times in the air but need many more hours before taking on the challenge of taking off and landing it. I hope that day will come!

Ratings: Student pilot with solo and tailwheel endorsement.

Dream Taildragger: I would love to own the one I am learning in but a Super Cub with fat tires would be a dream.

Thoughts on taildragging: They are just so much fun. I can’t compare because I have only flown taildraggers. I love the way they look sitting there with the nose up in the air looking so proud. It is like they are saying, “Come on, let’s go explore!”
