Dec 2011 Flying the Big Horn Mountains
Wow, it’s late December and Lisa’s still able to fly without skis in Wyoming. Be sure and double click on the pictures so you can appreciate the elk and the wild horses, a sight you’ll never see in my neck of the woods. And Lisa, I sure could have used this ‘Santa Super Cub Girl’ picture in the Christmas video! Love it!!
From Lisa Martin, Worland, Wyoming: Â I am packing some flying in while the weather holds. Can hardly believe it’s winter with the balmy (40*) and calm we’ve had the last couple days. Had been too busy to fly for about 3 weeks so Saturday flew east to the Big Horn Mountains to check on “my” elk. I have about 1,000 I like to keep an eye on.
When I got back to the airport, I made my shortest landing ever…to a full stop before the VASI lights! I was HAPPY (Sparky Imeson’s ‘Mountain Flying Bible’ has lots of good tips). John said he would have told me “Nice landing” but I was so busy telling him how great my landing was that he couldn’t get a word in. Today, Sunday, I headed west to check on “my” horses (wild horses that I like to keep an eye on).
The two babies I adopted this spring, and named ‘Blueberry’ and ‘Blackberry’ look fat and sassy.
Merrry Christmas!
