It rained so hard at Mt. Comfort Airport last night that small lakes formed all over acres of airport property . Today there was no where to park the thousands of cars that would have come, at least where they wouldn’t be axle deep in water and mud. Â Even though all the air show performers where there ready to go, at 8:30 this morning, for the first time in the air show’s history, it was canceled.

So you might think it was going to be a crummy day at the airport but boy would you be wrong! Â The sun came out and the highlight of my day was getting an amazing ride with Tim Rumril in his CJ.

We did a flight-of-3 formation take off with this CJ on our right wing
*

And this CJ on our left wing
*

Besides this beautiful shot of Lynn’s CJ, you can see standing water all over the fields !
*

“No Airshow” turned out to be a great thing for me!
*

Lynn Williams, Judy, Tim Rumril & the un-named really nice pilot of the third CJ. Â Thank you, Tim, for that amazing flight!
*

On Friday night, John & Larry were still hopeful about Saturday’s weather at  their hangar cookout!
*

The girls with Jon’s RV6
*

Saturday, the airshow may have been canceled but was a good chance to check out the Horsemen Aerobatic Team’s three P-51’s
*

Kent Pietsch in his 1942 Interstate Cadet posed with Judy & Jessica
*

And Lady Taildragger, Laura Stants, flew a T6 in Friday in formation with this P-51. Â Laura was heading back home Saturday afternoon for her daughter’s dance recital but will return tomorrow hoping to fly in a real airshow Sunday!
At 10:00 pm Saturday night, it’s pouring outside once again with strong thunderstorms pushing across the area. Â To their credit, the airshow authority spent most of today building a new road through a field to access runway 34-16. Â The plan tomorrow is to park cars on that temporarily closed runway and taxiway, and park cars on the higher, dryer ultralight landing strip. Â We’re all hoping the rains stops soon….

Posted at 22:59h, 12 JuneWow! Judy!!! What a great day for you!!! CJ’s are a lot of fun! I had lovely ride with LLT Donna Hanshew’s hubby in his several years back… it was sooo much fun to fly and great visability!!! I sure hope the weather cooperates tomorrow! Otherwise you’ll have to “entertain” the airshow folks again….geeez… I hate it when that happens!! Have fun!!!
