Girl’s fly-out to Marble, Colorado

Oh, I love this one Lisa! You and Wendy and Victoria flying out for a  girl’s flying/camping weekend in Colorado — all of you in your own Cubs — you’re the envy of all of us. Beautiful Cubs, wonderful adventures, great fun! Good one girls!!

Lisa, Wendy & Victoria

From Lisa Martin;  Three of us from the Ladies Love Taildraggers group met at a private airstrip near Marble, CO for a fall camping weekend.

Crystal River Canyon about 10 min from Marble

Marble Air Strip just past the pond

We had people driving, hiking and flying in to say “Hi” to “the Ladies Love Taildraggers”. This group seems to be gaining quite a name for itself!

It takes an interview, a signed liability form and verbal permission from the owner to land on this private strip

We hiked, helped a poor guy who’s cub was damaged by a ground loop, was invited to supper at a lodge with a group of vacationers that included several pilots, was investigated by a local fireman seeking information about a reported UFO sighting, sat around a campfire and watched space junk falling from a crystal clear mountain sky.

It was awesome. I’m just being silly about the “Super Girls’ Cub Club”…we are Ladies (who) Love Taildraggers!

Hey Super Girls Cub Club and Lady taildraggers,

Anyone interested in a Caveman Flyin Oct 21 and 22 near Moab, utah? I just spoke with Rod Tangren and with liability forms signed permission is granted. Weather looks awesome for camping.

It sounds great! John’s sure been whiny since we went to CO. Maybe he would hang out with us girls this time. I’d sure like to get down in that country. It’s farther south, I think, than our most southward flight (Mexican Mountain). Is it close to where the cliff dwellings are? I’ve always wanted to see them.

Oh yes. We nailed the weather weekend. Sounds like it has moved east for Anne and Judy’s big flight to Tennessee now.

It was amazing. And it’s just a little back woods town, there is no mainstreet even, but everyone seemed to know we were coming. We had to tell a few, “We’re not THE Ladies Love Taildraggers group, but we are all in it.” Our bubble’s got burst a few times too. Once, a flight of three stopped in from Texas (only 2 flew out) and walked up to us asking, “Are you gals WITH these airplanes?” Yep. Actually, they’re ours. And then another guy worded his question, “Okay. So there are 3 airplanes. And you three ladies. So…where are the people who flew you in here?” That was the guy investigating a report of a UFO.

I bet you did get lots of attention out there. I’d like to be there and see 3 girls flying their cubs in. That’ll give them somethng new to talk about. Go girls go.
