Oct 2018 It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over
Oh boy, I sure didn’t see a new thong in my future! Haha, if you’ve been to a LadiesLoveTaildraggers fly-in in the last 5 years (or is it 6, maybe 7 years now?), and you hung around till the last day, you know I always find a little surprise dangling somewhere on my airplane. I’ll be busy working away, walk up to my airplane to throw more stuff in and about then, I notice a lacy, colorful thong suspended from something. What the heck?! A mystery thong! It always shocks me and it always cracks me up. And it’s always a big mystery – who put THAT there?!!

But we’re talking LadiesLoveTaildraggers Fly-ins and this year, for the first time, there was no LLT Fly-in. This year it was a LadiesLoveTaildraggers Haunted Flying Tour — totally new and different. I never dreamed there’d be a thong mysteriously hanging from my bird on this trip — but I was wrong. The silliness continues! Whodunnit? Hmmm, there were about 20 airplanes on the ramp that morning but I have a hunch….
So, it ain’t over till it’s over, the mystery continues and so does the Haunted Flying Tour. There’s still more to tell about our fun filled Tour!

I can’t say enough good things about the reception we received throughout Texas. Long before our Tour began I received a call from Danny Reid, manager of the Cisco Aviation FBO at KGZN. He’d read we were coming to Texas and suggested lunch for our group at KGZN as we flew between Sweetwater and Ranger, Texas. OK, did he say free food for our pilots and their friends? Done! True to his word, when we all showed up, pizza boxes stacked high enough to feed an army welcomed us, not to mention the smiling faces. We loved it!

Another great aviation museum not to be missed when in Big Spring, TX, Hangar 25 Air Museum.

For me, the best part of the Hangar 25 Air Museum was being able to climb into the cockpit of a B52. FedEx pilot Val Slocum (left) sizes it up and figures out pretty quickly she could fly the thing — but just might need some extra elbow grease to shove all those throttle levers forward. 😉

Wow and Wow. When I saw this little lady at Ranger Field’s Fly-in sporting such beautiful aviation ink, I had to know more. The female aviatrix (top) was a gift to herself when she got her private ticket. The P40 (below) when she got her instrument rating. Multi-engine soon to be added on top!!
Look out for this little gal. She LOVES flying and taildraggers, is checking off the ratings and is lined up to be a career aviator. Go girls Go!!!
And of all the high heeled stilettos I’ve seen this week, this fine pair surely screams Texas and is still my favorite!! Thank you Kelly Jeffries for rounding them up!
