Jamie Klaes (Alaska)

Jamie Klaes is based at PABT, Bettles Airport, Bettles, Alaska. Jamie is also the recipient of the 2017 LadiesLoveTaildraggers scholarship ‘Stick & Rudder Master Class’ by Brian Lansburgh, Oregon.

Born and raised in Alaska I was thrown into a bush plane before I can remember. I fly seasonally in the summers around Denali, the largest mountain in the world. I’ve always loved tail draggers, it’s like a manual versus an automatic. My parents made me learn to drive with a stick first and also made me learn to fly with a tail dragger first. Growing up above the arctic circle on a runway was incredible, so much so that both my brother and I became pilots.
