Sept. 24, 2012 Update
I got a note today from Judi Gordon who’s back into flying after a 13 year hiatus. Â Judi’s based at C77, Poplar Grove Airport, Illinois. Not long ago she and her husband had plans to buy a Skybolt but things have changed! Here’s an update from Judi.
“Well, the Skybolt didn’t work out so well. Â Hubby checked her out and turned right around. Â He didn’t even fly her. Â Then we looked at a couple other planes, and as the frustration over the summer grew and grew, we never thought we’d find the right bird.”
” But a week ago today, to the minute, he headed out to PA to check out a Marquart Charger that had just come on the market. Â She was perfect in every way, and now she’s OURS! Â This is one of the baby bi-planes, and she was an Oshkosh Grand Champion winner in 1987.”

Here’s an update from Judi on her flying life, pictures and all!

Judi Gordon. Me trying on the Skybolt for size yesterday. Â I think I had 3 butt cushions and 2 back cushions, and hubby will still have to fashion me some pedal extensions, but we’re approaching reasonable in terms of a fit.

Posted at 21:02h, 20 JuneMy hiatus was 25 years. Taildraggers are where its at, everything else pales in comparison. Except maybe a fighter jet but I don’t think that’s an option….have a blast!!!

Posted at 15:56h, 20 JuneJudi,
Glad to see your having fun! I want to see you flying the “Bolt”…
They make a contraption that is used on S2 Pitt’s to move the pedals further back. It is very simple and can be removed quickly. It is 2 pieces that go on the rudder cables just aft of the rear set of pedals. They make the cable form an “S” that takes up 3 or 4 inches of cable moving the pedal further back. Since the front set of rudder pedals is attached to the rear they also move rearward. They can be removed or installed in minutes. Only problem I really don’t know who makes them….
