Mar 2011 Julia Doerner (Washington)
Julia Doerner is based at (KRNT) Renton Municipal Airport, Renton, Washington.
The first flight I took was in a 2 seater Pitts when I was 12. From then on I wanted to learn to fly.
I did training with Damian Delgazio in New Jersey. My Mom did the advanced tailwheel training and I did primary in the L-4. Ever since I have wanted to own an L-4.
Now I fly with my Mom every chance I get who owns a Cubcrafters S2. (see Diana Votaw). I have always found taildraggers to be far more fun the tricycle aircraft.
I am a student at University of Washington getting my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.

Posted at 17:38h, 02 JuneJulie, This mom and daughter team must come to the Woman Wise Airmanship Adventure this July in Idaho!!! Check it out on LLT homepage or my own (www.mindelevations.com). AOPA, WIA, EAA plan to send writers to cover the event! I’d make sure that they got wind of the mother-daughter team. Too COOL. Love it. Smiley Creek has free camping and some limited lodge and teepees reserved across the street. Lots of fun recreation after symposium. Think about it ladies.

Posted at 23:59h, 21 MarchGreat Julia,
I recently purchased Damian Delgazio tailwheel DVDs, he does an excellent job as an instructor …even on DVD. I bet your tailwheel instruction was very good~
Great pictures!

Posted at 08:26h, 21 MarchGreat job Julia! You will never be sorry…I’m sure your mom has told you. I grew up on Vashon Island, WA and took my first flight lessons from and instructor that flew off of the two grass strips on that island. I would have to dig back through logbooks, but I believe my first flyout breakfast was to Renton. My floks now live by the Tacoma Narrows (on the Tacoma side) so I land at TIW when we go out there. We’ve had a Piper Comanche for the past several years that would get there in a little over 4 hours (from mid-Wyoming). Now with the Cub, we’ll get to throw in a tent and some gear and take a break somewhere in the ID mountains along the way. I’m really looking forward to getting back into Fish Lake again. We stopped there about 10 years ago when we had a C180. There were moose swimming and playing all over in the lake as we flew over it on our downwind.
