Katie Dralle is based at KLVK, Livermore Municipal Airport, Livermore, California. (San Francisco area)
My husband Matt had a stroke almost two years ago and he has flown since he was 10 years old. Flying is his world and after the stroke we were worried about the medical so I started taking lessons and struggling. He has built three RV’s (all taildraggers) and I knew not flying was not an option. I started lessons and it has been tough but rewarding. He is back flying but I’m still pushing on to get my license. One day at a time!
I am a student pilot, I just got my tailwheel solo in a Cessna 140. I hope to get my license by the end of the year or soon after. I just love flying tailwheel.
Aircraft flown: Cessna 150, Cessna 172 multiple and my favorite the Cessna 140!
Dream taildragger: I absolutely love the Cessna 140, but I think an RV4!
Thoughts on taildragging: I love the history and it feels like how you are supposed to land. I like the glide slope and for a three point to use a pop of power. I love taking off and the control of getting the tail up and then letting it fly. They are GREAT! 🙂
