Kristi Dunks (Montana)

Kristi Dunks is based at Bert Mooney Airport (KBTM) Butte, Montana and flies a Super Cub.

Kristi & her Super Cub

I fly a Piper Super Cub. My first taildragger was an American Champion 7ECA that I owned for several years and loved.

I ferried my Super Cub from southern California to Montana (10.9 hours on the tach for the flight), and have been having so much fun with it. There is something about low, slow, and backcountry flying that I cannot get enough of.

Down the road, I look forward to offering tailwheel flight instruction and spreading the joy!

For a woman who, like me, cannot get enough backcountry flying, I have a great adventure for you this summer in Idaho! Check out my Woman Wise Airmanship Adventure (home page of LLT or my site Lots of fun adventure, recreation, and learning. AOPA, EAA, WIA plan to send writers to cover event. It promises to be a memorable occasion. Right now I have women coming from 13 states but none from MT YET. Be the first. I just emailed Jeanne MacPherson too. Maybe you two can come together?? I fly a Scout and live in McCall Idaho. We are lucky to be in this part of the country with such aviation available!
I have to have pilots from Idaho’s neighbor!! Check it out.

HI Kristi. I’m not too far away…Worland, WY. Haven’t landed at Butte yet, but we’ll be flying by if we ever get a nice weekend. We have a set of skis that we need to pick up at the Ferndale, MT strip. I’d like to stop at Ronan too. I have a good friend from high school that lives there and I love any chance to pop in at Ronan Sports and Western.
