Ladies In The News!

There’s all kind of news from our lady taildraggers!

Gail Schipper just received her IAC Sportsman patch. Keep in mind,  she’s doing it flying her Bücker Jungmann! Gail sent this note and pictures.

“I’m really excited that I got my Sportsman patch.”  Sportsman Smooth requires the following maneuvers: Spin, Loop, Slow Roll, half Cuban, Reverse Half Cuban, Humpty Bump, Immelman and Hammerhead. Whohooo!”

Congratulations Ladies! Excellent performance Gail. Great achievement Nancy. You both inspired women aviators everywhere. When we push our edges, we boost confidence which flows to all parts of our life. Gail, come show us your stuff this summer at the Woman Wise Airmanship July 2012 at Smiley Creek, Idaho. You never know how that will move another woman flyer. And, Nancy, bring your pretty Stearman out, for that matter. WHY NOT? Share the enthusiasm. Love to see you both and your vintage planes on that pretty green jewel of an airstrip. Thanks for your accomplishments.

And Sarah Kelly Arnold was featured in “Soaring” magazine (from the Soaring Society of America), in an article by Dianna Fleming. Dianna wrote about their 2-33 Tennessee Record Flight – 14 new feminine records, plus 3 National records in General Open Class Multiplace.

Congratulations to both Sarah (who holds many records) and Dianna!

I read that one too, Anne. Great accomplishments! If this continues, we’ll no longer be novelty women pilots…we’ll just be capable pilots.

I can’t believe how much this organization’s grown. When I signed my daughter on about two years ago, this organization had only a handful of members. Congratulations Judy!
