Nov 2011 Laura K. Stants (Indiana)
I’m happy to say we have a pilot update and new pictures from Laura Stants. Laura’s based not far from Indianapolis at Glenndale (8I3) which just happens to be the home of the Happy Champ I sold earlier this year!
Laura flies a variety of taildraggers including a Citabria, occasionally a J-3 Cub, an Aeronca Champ, Aeronca Chief and a T-6.
She does most of her flight instruction in a C-172 and C-172RG with some in a Cherokee 180.
Laura says, “I fly business trips for a company right now in a Bellanca Super Viking (now that their Piper Saratoga has suffered hail damage and is out of commission and the Baron has been sold). They’re looking at purchasing a nice C-340A which will be a good twin and I look forward to it.”
“A friend has an Aerostar 600 that he’s finishing up and I’ll get to fly it on trips for him and his brother which will be fun too.  I miss having a twin available! ”
“A few times a month I’m out giving T-6 rides.”
“I generally fly business trips 1-3 times a week, instruct every doable weather day but Sunday, and often on weekends I’m out at the Kokomo airport flying for the fun of it!”

From Indiana meet Laura Stants who is based at Glenndale (8I3) north of Indianapolis.
Laura says “My husband and I run the “Flight Training Centers” at Sheridan, IN (5I4), Kokomo, IN (OKK) and Glenndale, IN (8I3). Â Glenndale is a 2500′ grass strip and we provide tailwheel training, Private and Sport Pilot certificates out of our strip in a J-3 Cub and a Champ, and we do aerobatic training in our Super Decathalon. Â I also fly a Citabria and a T-6 Texan. Â I’m a CFI/CFII/MEI and do some tailwheel instruction and am about to transition to a T-6 instructor as well. Â I flew the T-6 at the Indianapolis Air Show this June at MQJ, the first female to fly a “trainer” in the airshow’s history, and only the second female to fly in the warbirds show. Â 🙂 Â I’ve been flying almost 20 years now and have a lot more flying to go, I hope!”
Here’s a picture of Laura flying Nathan Davis’ T-6 at the Indianapolis Airshow, 6/6/2009!!
