Linda Melhoff’s J-3 is Flying!

Congratulations to Linda Melhoff and hubby Rich for completing the restoration of their J-3 Cub. A lot of hard work and love went into this project!

Our precious Piper J-3 Cub is flying!  Her test flight was June 6th and she flew “hands off” with everything working great.

Our panel has some cool original instruments.

The 90 HP engine starts easily (yes, we have a starter which we love) and it purrs like a kitten. The Cub and I are getting to know each other and bond.  We hope to soon be ready to venture further from the airport.

We named the Cub “Gladys” in honor of my mother who was my flight instructor in a J-3 Cub and a pioneer aviatrix.

Some of my women pilot friends who have inspired and supported me and who were helping us celebrate.  We call our informal group the “Willamette Valley Fly Girls”. Cub pilot, Vanessa Jump Nelson came later but missed getting in the photo.
