Mar 2014 Lindsay’s Flying Tattoos!
Tattoo: Art for the skin. Permanent makeup. Skin art. No matter what you call them, they’re the ultimate personal expression of individuality. For lady taildragger pilot, Lindsay Petre, they’re a way to add some ink that proclaims her passion – flying!  Whether you think they’re cool or creepy, you can’t help but be in awe of Linday’s “yellow J3 on floats” or her “1st solo C152” tats. Thanks for sharing Lindsay! Â
In 2009 my husband and I went to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome for our anniversary and took a ride in their biplane. Later he said, you enjoyed that so much, maybe you’d like flying lessons? I didn’t have any aviators in the family so I hadn’t considered it before, but I said why not. The rest, of course, is history.

After I get with the aerobatics I’ll probably get that one too. Although I love my 152 I have had an enormous amount of fun in the J-3. I also have about 20 hours in a R44 – honestly I love anything that gets off the ground. I’ve met such awesome people through flying. Flying is a huge passion for me and I’m always excited to communicate with other pilots, especially of the female persuasion.
Cheers,
Lindsay Petre, KDXR, Danbury Municipal Airport, CT
