Nov 2011 Lots of big news from Lorraine Morris
Lots of news from Lorraine Morris who is based a Poplar Grove, IL. I was so happy to finally meet Lorraine at Oshkosh this year and watch her and husband Ken do their hand-propping demonstration in Vintage. It’s always fun to put a face with a name and hopefully next time we meet, we’ll be able to chat a little longer. Lorraine has an aircraft interiors business at Poplar Grove, looks like she may have flown every cool vintage aircraft around and, oh, I almost forget, flies the B-777 for United. Such an under achiever!! Check out Lorraine’s “Pilot Profile” link at the end of this post – right after the recent picture of Lorraine flying a ……… Aeronca C-3!!!
We have been working on my Cessna 150 conversion. We got it flying for the first time in 17 years! First flight was Oct. 21st. Her name is Thelma, and she is great. Steve Thomas, of Poplar Grove, made a video of the conversion and first flights:
It is about 4 minutes long, but shows alot of what went into her transformation. Everybody asks when I am going to sell her, because we usually sell the stuff we fix up right away, but I think I will hang on to her for awhile.
On another note, I got to hang out with a friend of ours and fly some of his cool old planes in August. I got to fly a PT23 and an Aeronca C3.
The Aeronca was a hoot! I feel really honored that our friend would allow me to get in his planes, especially his single seater, and let me fly it.

Posted at 20:09h, 07 NovemberNice work on the tailwheel conversion of the 150. Also the C-3 must have been a blast. I own/ fly a 1937 Aeronca K, which immediately followed the C-3 series. It is a fun and rare airplane.
