Teacher, pilot, mom!
I didn’t start out liking airplanes very much. At the age of 4, we lived under the approach path for RWY 13 at KSPI. I would hear the loud airplanes (likely a 727 or L10-11) while playing outside. Soon they would buzz right over the house and I’d run in screaming “The angry butterfly is coming to get me!” Boy did they ever. I began flying back and forth between my divorced parents’ house the very next year and found it natural to be moving in a multi-dimensional world in the ocean above the earth. I joined the CAP in 8th grade then went to work for the airlines at 18. I wanted to do everything with those planes, working as a ticket agent, ramp rat, flight attendant, and then earning my pilot license (and one day my A&P). I have a great deal of reverence for this modern miracle and a great feeling of fortune that I was born into such a time.
