Mary Build (Maine)

Mary is based at (71ME) Twin Eagles Airport and (5ME) Brandy Pond Seaplane Base, Naples, Maine.

I’ve been flying for 23 years and have accumulated 5,600 plus hours mainly in tail wheel airplanes and seaplanes. Both modes of transportation give me the true feeling of freedom as I change from wheels, to skis, back to wheels and then amphibious, or straight floats.

Now an Aviation FAASTeam member, CFI, ASEL, ASES, AMEL Instrument and a DPE. Member of the Katahdin Wings Chapter of the 99s. The past 6 years as the Treasurer and present Vice- Governor of the New England Section of the 99s. Many hours in Cessna 152 to 185s, Piper PA-11,12 and 18, Maules, Citabrias, Huskys along with an Aztec and King Air for multi engine. Past participant in the Air Race Classic and have judged that race for 4 years.

The first time I flew the Air Race Classic, my co-pilot Jenny Jorgensen and I flew it in a Cessna 182 on amphibious floats. I just sold my school planes and have purchased my “keeper”. It’s a 1947 Super Cruiser PA-12 with just 100 hours after a complete restoration and new 180 HP engine! Can’t wait to meet more taildragger pilots!

    Barb,
I just found this message and we would love to have you in the Katahdin Wings. I think you need to contact headquarters to make that change and it can be done quickly and easily.

Mary, Barb Fioravanti here, owner of a Lake Amphibian, friend of Linda Cioffi. We met at lunch at EEN a few years ago. I am currently a member of the NY Capital Region chapter of 99s. I am now a resident of NH, based at Moultonborough 53NH. I would like to transfer my membership to New England Section, and probably Katahdin Wings is the closest chapter for me. Could you point me in the right direction to make that change? I also want to let you know of a fly-in scheduled at Moultonborough, 53NH, on October 23, noon until ?, rain date 10/24. There will be prizes for best aircraft, a 50/50, and AOPA will be there. for I have a poster I can send you to share with other NE 99s.
