Melinda Harvey is based at 1I3, Shawnee Field Airport, Bloomfield, Indiana.
I fly a 1947 140 Cessna…she is called “Shawnee Girl”…we also have a HATZ CB and a Cherokee 180.
My girl is simple and just my size. Â I’ve been flying for about 6 years. Â Ride motorcycles also…have a 2007 Softtail Deluxe. Â I DO enjoy life!
From Judy: When I’m out flying I always hope to bump into another lady taildragger pilot. I was at Lee Bottom for the Sinful Sundae ice cream fly-in and was so happy to meet Melinda – parked right next to my Rans S7! It just so happens I was rushing back to grab something out of the plane when she and her husband were climbing in theirs to head home – and she was sitting in the pilot’s seat! It was very cool to meet another Indiana taildragger pilot – that’s actually close enough we can fly together.
It was great to meet you and your husband, Melinda! We should meet at BAK for breakfast or lunch soon!!

Those polished airplanes are my cup of tea. We had a 1954 C180 that was the original aluminum with a dark green stripe. I put a lot of elbow grease into that one, even though my husband kept telling me “Let’s just paint it. It will be much easier to take care of.” But I was too motivated by the raving compliments we’d get. I bet you get lots too.
