National Waco Club Fly-in

Did you know the National Waco Club is in the midst of their 51st Reunion and the members are celebrating at a fly-in at 6G4 south of Mt. Vernon, Ohio? Susan Theodelores is spending the bigger part of a week over there and no doubt having a great time.  Probably much to do helping her husband, Andy Heins, who is president of the club. Susan’s keeping us connected!

Steve and Tina Thomas made an early arrival!! Whoo hooo! The ladies of Waco are together!!!

We have 14 Wacos here so far! Everyone is out flying now. The wind finally died down so I went and got the RNF out of the hangar at Knox County and Jeff Skiles (of Hudson River flight fame and fellow Waco owner) rode back to Wynkoop with me! Thankfully I made a great landing!! The weather is perfect now… Nice and cool… Hopefully more Waco owners fly in tomorrow!!!

Look at that fabulous blue sky right there with the fabulous Wacos!

If you’re in the area and would like to fly in, check out this link http://www.nationalwacoclub.com/. The event runs through June 27th.

Susan knows I love those tails! Thanks, Susan!

After waiting out rain and wind, we scampered to the hangar for wheels up at 7 pm… Just under an hour for Andy in the speedy cabin and just over an hour for me in the “stop amd smell the roses” RNF. The planes are tucked in the hangar for the night… We had ice cream for dinner and are now relaxing at the hotel. Vacation has begun!! Will take some photos of the airport tomorrow! When there is more light.

Tucked in for the night!

    Hey Anne!

Thanks for posting the link to the article! We hadn’t seen it yet! We had a great time… weather was going to be too iffy for flying – so we took the next best thing… Open Cockpit Solstice! Nice drive up and had fun poking around the museum in the afternoon! The ceremony was very nice and we met some wonderful people! Great weekend all in all!

One of the founders of Waco, Clayton Brukner, will be inducted into the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 20, 2011. Andy Heins will accept the award and bring it to the museum in Troy OH.

Here’s a link to the article in the Battle Creek (MI) newspaper:

Wish I could go and watch, but family duty calls – have fun, Susan & Andy!

For the past 5 yrs my boyfriend has had the extreme pleasure of spending a WACO weekend at Wynkoop in Mt Vernon. It has become a destination he looks forward to every year. He has the greatest respect for the aircraft and its history and has taken thousands of photos (his profession) and last year filmed video. I am trying to locate a pilot that would be willing to give my boyfriend a ride during the upcoming reunion in Mt Vernon. I am certainly willing to pay for this but I just don’t know who to contact and if I could find someone willing to fill a man’s dream to ride in such an artful piece of airplane. If you could point me in the right direction, I would forever be indebted. Beverly Booher – email: bab195@hotmail.com
    Warmest regards.
