Mar 2012 News from Neroli!
Yea! Neroli sends big news from New Zealand ….. a new member of the family has arrived!
We have had an exciting few weeks, with the purchase of a de Havilland Chipmunk. It arrived a week ago and we have been busy admiring it and going for rides.
It was built in 1952 (attached to the University Air Squadron in England) and was imported to NZ about 17 years ago. It is in beautiful condition.
We are just so lucky to have it and I am looking forward to the challenge of learning to fly a different taildragger. My taildragging has been solely in our cub and everyone tells me I am going to love the Chippy too.

Two Chipmunks lined up for takeoff from Te Kowhai. The red one is being flown by Cody Calder who is only 20 yrs old and learnt to fly with Bill in the Cub.
Today Bill took Olivia for her first ride and she came back with a big smile!
I can’t believe how the website has grown. What a great bunch of women! Every single one is inspirational.
Take care

Posted at 19:52h, 25 MarchHi Neroli and Olivia, About ten years ago, I wrote a kids book about a Chipmunk. It is entirely based on the Chipmunk’s history and on actual incidents and most of the illustrations are from photos that I took myself including flying a Chipmunk here in Canada and in Australia. Would you like a copy? If so, send me your snail mail address and someday it will turn up in your mail. I went to the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the Chipmunk at Stratford airfield in England. 48 Chipmunks flew in! Also lots of other early deHavillands such as Moths and a Dragon Rapide. Gorgeous event.
Cheers, Natalie
