Apr 2016 Our Generous Gentlemen
While hosting the LadiesLoveTaildraggers website, and hopefully encouraging more women to fly taildraggers, one of the most delightful and unexpected surprises has been the generosity of the Men Folk. The guys really have been big supporters and fans of our awesome lady taildragger pilots and taildragger pilot wannabes. Don’t get me wrong, the same goes for the ladies, but it’s extra special when men “get us” and appreciate the value of our mission to create more happy TW pilots.
The latest example of a random-act-of-aviation-kindness was an email I received earlier this week from a gentleman in my EAA chapter.
“Good morning Judy, how about Thursday evening (at our meeting) I give you some money, and you give away a few of your new Funk tshirts?”
Of course he knows I’d love to mail a cool tshirt to a few ladies that I’m pretty sure would like to have one! Last night was Thursday and sure enough, a white envelope was placed in my hand by a generous gentleman. Gary Kellum would be happy to remain anonymous but kindness rules. Gary has been a big supporter of LLT and many of our members have benefited. Thank you Gary!
I will be mailing tshirts to four college students 🙂
- Aimee Ciciora, a student at Central Oregon Community College
- Laura Stalheim, a student from Florida working toward a professional pilot career
- Kayleigh Bordner, a student at Indiana State University working towards a professional pilot career
- Hannah Rotta, a student at the University of Washington, Seattle
Also thanks to Jonathon Apfelbaum from Colorado, and Kenny & Sherra Davenport from Arkansas for their recent random-acts-of-aviation-kindness!
I’ve neglected to mention one person but more coming about him very soon. I’ve got a fantastic surprise that is about to make two pilots very happy!
