Feb 2013 Project Update from Linda Melhoff: J3 Cub
Thank you Linda Melhoff, for your J3 Cub project update! Looks like another beauty.
There’s no better way to spend the winter than some days in a cozy hangar working on your project. Â We enjoy some nice tunes, a hangar lunch and airport friends who stop to check on us or lend a hand when needed. Â We’ve made a lot of progress and things are getting exciting so I thought I’d share some pics.
Fuselage painted – fitting windscreen

Hope there will be room for Bella’s little sister in our hangar.

Fitting the cowlings around our newly overhauled 90 HP engine.

Rich, my husband/A&P mechanic, installing a wing tank.

Santa brought me a Sensenich propeller.

Gotta love a man who knows how to iron!

Trial fitting and rigging the wings, with help and lots of supervision from our airport friends.

First coat of silver on. Now the fun of sanding with our friend and painter, Nathan. (Just happened to be wearing my favorite “Rosie the Riveter” tee shirt in the proper Cub yellow.)

We will have the J-5 done before your cub…..
