Shannon & Chuck’s New Alaskan Bushwheels

Hey, news from Tennessee! Who’d have guessed you could put Alaskan Bush Wheels on a 65 hp Taylorcraft in Tennessee! Very cool Shannon & Chuck. Congratulations and happy grass landings! I Like!

And I notice the chalks in the picture too, Shannon. I thought I lost the ones you made for me but I found them cleaning the hangar a couple weeks ago!

Songbird's looking good!

New bush wheels on 26658 already. Grass only now!

    chuck,
sorry for asking the same question twice I wasn’t sure if it sent the first time, anyway I appreciate the info, one more question, did it change your take off performance or lengthen it out? and what about weight?

    Thanks,
    Reed

I have a 120 cessna w/ 85 horse and was wondering if these wheels will work on my bird or if it will loose to much performance, what do you think?

    Thanks,
    Reed

Reed I dont have any time in a 120 so i’m using my tcraft as a reference i lost maybe 3 mph top end cruse and the tcraft is 65hp still see 100mph on gps often also the landings are so soft almost like landing on a pillow on tcraft with 6:00-6 tires you always have to feel for the run way the added height puts the wheels at the right height and it lands three point much better also raised angel of attack it gets off the ground quicker all and all would not trade them for any thing chuck

Thank you Kalin. We have some good friends in Super Cub and we plan to follow them around a bit. There are a couple of them up in Alaska and it would be great to fly some of the Alaskan country it’s beautiful. But we will start here and maybe work are way across. We are going to the LLT in August and to East Tennessee in October for sure and we’ll see what else pops up between now and then.

Pretty bird! I have a soft spot for T-carts and yours is gorgeous. Mighty fine wheels too. Have fun with those!
