Sneha Harish- South Africia Bush Fly-in

Hello Judy and all you lovely ladies! 🙂

An update from South Africa after ages! Last weekend, my students, boss, friends and I were at a fly-in at All Days Ex-Military Airfield, (in the middle of the bush!) Limpopo Province, South Africa.

Went around taking photos of taildraggers I could find, especially for the wonderful website Judy has created.

It was the most fun I’ve had in a while! Lots of planes (over 120), aerobatics, food stalls, shopping, jumping castles, camping and even lion and tiger cubs (YES!!!)

Sadly, also heard my first ever MAYDAY call over a hand held. 🙁 4 Gyrocopters took off on day 2 for a pleasure flight in loose formation and one of them went down on a dirt road next to the airfield, exploding on impact and we lost both pilots to the fire that ensued.

FL085. The blanket really helped.

But still, a FANTASTIC fly-in! We used FL085 and FL075 there and back, respectively. 8 hours flying time there and back from our’s. Near perfect flying weather up north in South Africa this time of the year. Oh, I love winter! 🙂

That’s it from me!  Hope you all are spending lots of time up in the air!

    Hello Lisa!

Oh that’s wonderful to know! Maybe you must come visit him (and me) sometime. You’ve got 2 friends in South Africa now! It’s such a beautiful country this. 🙂

As for the far foreign country part of it, I don’t know. I never envisioned it this way. I guess we all just go where our hearts feel at home. It’s so good to know that we share so much in common! It would be an absolute pleasure to meet up!

    Glad you enjoyed the post!

    Susan!

Thanks! 🙂 Yes, this fly-in surprised me too! 🙂 It’s fantastic to hear from you as well. You all must plan a trip to South Africa! Just like I am planning (stuck in the planning stages!) to visit you ladies ever since I got on this website!

Now, be it South Africa or the USA, I sure hope we get to meet some day.

    🙂 Cheers!

It amazes me how someone like you can seem to be in such a far and foriegn country to me, yet besides a few details (like tigers), we have so much in common. I have a friend named James, who I’ve never met, that lives in South Africa and works at the huge coal mine (I think the largest in the world). He often talks about and shares pictures of the Limpopo area and although not a pilot he is an aircraft “data head”. Thanks for sharing more about South Africa. It seems like a wonderful place.

What a wonderful story and update on your adventures! I love the big cats… they are just beautiful! We sure don’t have anything like that at our fly-in destinations! 😀

    Wonderful to hear from you!

    Cheers!
