Jul 2012 Special “Thank You” to Chuck Avon & Shannon Gallagher
Before we close the book on this year’s Lady Taildraggers & Friends Fly-in there’s one last thank you that is long overdue. Two people from Tennessee worked very hard for a very long time to make sure the fly-in was the best it could be. Chuck Avon volunteered and put in so much time early on that he soon was “awarded” the thankless title of “Fly-in Coordinator”. He solicited most of the door prizes, laid out the Poker Run and arranged that great lunch stop. He found us “The Cowboy Poet”, drove the bus and worked non-stop the week of the fly-in. Shannon Gallagher started out as computer support and helped out in many ways for months. She also worked the week of the fly-in, manned the registration desk, passed out door prizes and donated her artwork to benefit “Operation Homefront”. Together they were a powerful team who accomplished much. Many thanks to you both, Chuck & Shannon.

Chuck & Shannon and their pretty little Tcraft with a new C85 engine, lightweight electrical system and Alaskan bush wheels!
And on another note, several wonderful articles have been written about this year’s Fly-in. Â Thank you to AircraftOwner Online writer Nancy Warren for the wonderful article that just came out about our Fly-in. Check out the link.
Deb McFarland wrote a totally amazing article about our Fly-in for General Aviation News, particularly surprising since as hard as she tried, she just couldn’t get to it!
And thank you to Jill Tallman for her cool post about our Fly-in in AOPAPilot Blog.
Besides the fact that it’s just cool to get so much publicity about our Fly-in, it’s particularly special when all the articles are written by women …. women pilots!!
