Jun 2014 The numbers are in: Ladies Tailwheel Endorsement Scholarship!
Whoopee! The $$ numbers $$ are in and I have excellent news to report. LadiesLoveTaildraggers’ donations to date total $2,445.12 for our Ladies Tailwheel Endorsement Scholarship Fund! As I hoped, we will be able to award not one, but TWO Tailwheel Endorsement Scholarships this year.
Kate probably had the scholarship fund on her mind when she did one cartwheel after another at our LLT Gaston’s flyin last weekend. Kathleen Hegenberger flew her Birgdog from South Carolina and it made a perfect backdrop for Kate’s jubilant handsprings!
Keith at Gaston’s Resort made a special donation tub for our group and he and Kate Chambers passed it around to help the cause.
Funds also came from donations made by attendees for items generously donated by others. As you can see, Lisa Haag, a Cessna 140 pilot from Texas was delighted to get a signed copy of Brian Lansburgh’s book. Brian is very generously donating his time and aircraft to provide one lady with a tailwheel endorsement. Thank you to Brian at Tailwheel Town!! Brian provides tailwheel endorsements and tailwheel master’s classes at Sister’s Airport in Bend, Oregon.
Marie Beaver from Texas flew her Maule to Gaston’s and was THRILLED to take home a truly amazing donation; a 1930’s antique punch card game donated by Gail Mathews.
Saturday evening at Gaston’s was our final get together. We filled half the restaurant that night, took home some wonderful donations and supported our LLT Scholarship Fund all the while.
Kelly & LD Jeffries flew their RV8 from Illinois and Kelly performed her “Two Pilots – One Plane” poem. This epic poem was originally read at the LLT 2012 Savannah, TN flyin and was back by popular demand. Here’s the video!
