Where are we going for our next LadiesLoveTaildraggers Fly-in?!!

Where are we going for our next LadiesLoveTaildraggers Fly-in? Now that’s a really great question. The airport that will host the 2018 LadiesLoveTaildraggers Fly-in is unknown at this point. Truth is, I don’t have a clue. What I can tell you is Poplar Grove Airport was an incredible host for our 2017 LLT fly-in. I fell in love with C77 and the remarkable ladies based there. Fortunately for them their airport is one of the busiest around and I’m convinced their lady taildragger pilots are too! There’s so much on everyone’s docket already, a 2018 LadiesLoveTaildraggers Fly-in isn’t possible. Sad, yes, but it gives us a chance to explore exciting new possibilities. We are officially on the hunt for our next LLT Fly-in destination!

It’s hard to beat a bunch of lady taildraggers zipping around early morning in a Twin Beech 18 like at C77.

It seems insane to start planning our 2018 LLT Fly-in already but I know from past experience it takes a while to pin down a new location. Then there’s work to be done by local volunteers and myself pulling it all together. It takes time. Poplar Grove Airport, Kelly Jeffries, Tina Thomas, Lorraine Morris and this year’s entire planning committee are going to be a very tough act to follow. 🙂

So what are our options? Since returning from LLT 2017 I received a call from an individual in Tennessee who would like to donate a recently restored taildragger to a lady taildragger pilot who attends our fly-in – if we host the event at their airport! WOW, that’s incredibly generous and amazing. That kind of offer is hard to pass up.

The flip side is we’ve hosted the LLT fly-in in Tennessee twice before and we’ve never been west of Texas. I’m just throwing it out there but I think it might be time for a West coast LadiesLoveTaildraggers fly-in; possibly California, Oregon, or Washington. But honestly, all 50 states are a possibility at this point.

This is what we need:

  • A can-do, passionate, have FUN attitude
  • A non-controlled airport
  • Hard surface runway(s) with grass (if possible)
  • Fly-in Chairwoman
  • Local volunteers
  • Hotels/Motels nearby with transportation
  • On-site camping
  • Ability to feed multiple meals to 100 plus individuals
  • A welcoming local EAA and community
  • Nearby fly-out destinations

If you would like to host the 2018 LadiesLoveTaildraggers Fly-in, I’d like to hear from you. Email LadyTaildraggers@gmail.com and tell me what we might expect at your airport. I hope to soon have a LadiesLoveTaidraggers’ 2018 Fly-in Committee in place to evaluate our options.
